Lemon Drop Travel

First stop: St. Louis InTouch at Busch Stadium

One of my favorite candies of all time is lemon drops. They’re easily transportable, easily popable, and the perfect balance of sweet and sour. They don’t melt easily. I can carry them with me on an airplane or in a car. I’ve carried them a lot of places lately as I hit the road this spring on a few business adventures.

I first took some Lemon Heads with me as I drove from Nashville to St. Louis for the Metaswitch InTouch event. We have a tremendous customer base who use Metaswitch equipment on their networks. While in St. Louis, I was able to reconnect with several customers around some fun and interesting events. Firstly, the conference was held at Busch Stadium. An unusual event space, but it worked great! I’m a big baseball fan so it was quite enjoyable to look out on one of the most beautiful parks in all of Major League Baseball. Secondly, we took a tour of the Budweiser facilities in St. Louis. Those Clydesdale horses are tremendously large and a great mascot for one of America’s most iconic brands.

The Peterson Automotive Museum was great, offering cool cars and plenty of networking

The next trip I took this spring was to Ribbon Perspectives in Los Angeles. While you may not be as familiar with the “Ribbon” name, they are the joint venture of two widely used platforms in our industry—Genband and Sonus. David West and I flew out to Los Angeles for this incredible event. As a travel companion to the plane ride, I was able to grab these off-brand honey and lemon drops. They were delicious and lasted me the entire four-hour flight. One of the highlights of the Ribbon Perspectives event was the trip to the Peterson Automotive Museum. I enjoy museums and I enjoy cars, so this was a perfect combination. We saw cars made of Legos, cars from movies, and just amazingly beautiful works of automotive art.

I hope to see you soon during my travels!

We’re headed out again this week (June 27th) to CloudComms outside of Washington DC. I’m sure I’ll find some appetizing, lemon-flavored treat to take with me on the plane. I enjoy these business trips because it gives me an opportunity to see customers and reconnect with them outside of their busy office lives. The relationships we cultivate with our customers is a point of pride at Equinox. In every sales presentation, David and I mention that Equinox is a great place to work—not to brag about our environment but to demonstrate that because we are cared for at Equinox, it allows us to earnestly care for each of our customers. These recent trips further remind me how much I enjoy the relationships with customers—even more than my beloved lemon drops.
