Our History

In 1986, Equinox Information Systems opened its doors as a custom software developer for the rapidly emerging and competitive telecommunications industry. Our philosophy was simple: create a great place to work and always do the right thing for our employees and our customers.

That philosophy has never changed. Measured by our employee tenure average (over 12 years), our list of customers served (over 300), and customers who decline to serve as references (zero), our success stands as a testament to these founding principles.

In 1986, Equinox primarily supported billing systems for long-distance carriers. By 1991, we had developed expertise with Class 5 switch databases and the collection of usage records from multiple switching platforms. This expertise is embodied in Protector (our fraud management system). Now in its tenth version, Protector is the most widely installed fraud management system in the country. In 1996, the emergence of the Competitive Local Exchange market propelled Equinox into the forefront of fraud management and network reporting for many of the top-tier players, such as XO Communications, McLeod USA, Paetec, CenturyLink, and a host of others.

Equinox now enjoys a leadership position in the revenue assurance, fraud management, and usage data mediation marketplace by maintaining long-standing relationships with companies across the entire spectrum of the telecommunications world, including Charter Communications, Fairpoint Communications, DeltaCom, and Windstream.
