Equinox Information Systems Releases CDR 2000

System Allows Telephone Companies to Prepare for Year 2000

NASHVILLE, TN - Dec. 15, 1998 - Equinox Information Systems, a leading provider of custom and commercial software to the telecommunications industry, today released CDR 2000. CDR 2000 is a Year 2000 testing system that enables telephone companies to prepare effectively for the new millennium by testing applications that interact with Call Detail Records (CDRs) for Year 2000 compliance.

CDR 2000 is comprised of two modules: a data conversion utility, and a real-time CDR simulator. The data conversion module is a comprehensive data-aging tool that automatically turns existing call detail records forward in time to simulate the coming millennium. The real-time CDR simulator inputs this test data and performs a real time delivery of the files.

"It is not enough to test your systems with Y2K test data; you have to do it in a real time Y2K environment," explains Wayne Lowe, President of Equinox Information Systems. "CDR 2000 is the only software product that ages CDRs intelligently, simulating a real time delivery of CDRs."

Benefits of CDR 2000 include:

  • Minimize Risk - CDR 2000 allows carriers to test how their current system architecture and applications will respond to year 2000 data, and how they will handle the roll-over between 1999 and 2000.
  • Quality Year 2000 Test Data - CDR 2000 creates data unique to respective telephone companies. The test data has their own unique billing numbers, trunk groups, authcodes, ANIs, etc.
  • Real Time Delivery Simulation - CDR 2000 also allows carriers to test for Year 2000 compliance with respect to the delivery that occurs across the millennium. CDR 2000 allows companies to test the interaction between systems.

With the deadline looming, and all the unanticipated work surrounding testing, every decision will be crucial. Most telcos cannot afford the time to write their own utilities for Year 2000 testing; it is a complex job and it would take away valuable human resources needed for other tasks.

Equinox Information Systems has the answer: CDR 2000 pays for itself in immediate productivity gains for your Year 2000 team. It pays for itself a second time when your applications run error free on January 1, 2000 due to your accurate testing.
